The integration of art, engineering, and architecture into unified built systems has important precedents in the kinetic and geometric art movement. Artists such as Carlos Cruz-Diez, Jesús Rafael Soto, Alejandro Otero, Juvenal Ravelo, Mateo Manaure, and Leonel Durán transformed ports, hydroelectric infrastructure, airports, highways, and urban corridors into perceptual environments where structure, movement, color, and visual experience became inseparable from the architecture itself.

From the chromatic interventions of Carlos Cruz-Diez at the Port of La Guaira and the Guri Hydroelectric Dam, to the spatial investigations of Jesús Rafael Soto and the monumental civic works of Alejandro Otero, all in Venezuela, these projects demonstrated that artistic vision could operate not as decoration, but as a structural and perceptual component of infrastructure itself. BKS continues this methodology through site-specific systems developed in collaboration with engineers, fabricators, and technical specialists. Each project translates natural phenomena into architectural structures that integrate climate response, movement, and perceptual interaction into long-life spatial environments.
